Getting Program Approval
MCR Sets the Standard for DOD Cost Estimating.
The AIM-9X Sidewinder Missile Program needed to present (in less than six months) a Life Cycle Cost Estimate (LCCE) that would meet approval in a single review cycle by the Office of the Secretary of Defense Cost Analysis Improvement Group (OSD CAIG). MCR used a methodology that is fully defensible and documented the results in a clear, concise, and easy–to–follow report. Not only did the Sidewinder program receive its appropriation, the OSD CAIG distributed the documentation other DoD cost estimating organizations “as an example of how a LCCE should be documented.”

Improving the Safety of Heavylift Helicopters
Engineers proposed a multi-million dollar Integrated Mechanical Diagnostic (IMD) – (a series of sensors and software that measure the health of the mechanical systems while the helicopter is operating – be developed for the Sikorsky heavylift H-53 helicopter. MCR developed the cost benefit analysis to highlight the overall savings for maintaining the H-53 over the life of the system. Soon the IMD will be fielded on about 120 H-53s with plans to be installed on all Navy rotary wing aircraft.

Aging Aircraft…Keeping the Biggest Bird in the Sky on Schedule
The Program Management Office of the C5 Avionics Modernization Program had no internal resources to perform required scheduling activities. MCR built an integrated schedule database which provides critical path and realistic contractor progress information. This integrated schedule provided with real-time information keeping program on schedule and within cost.
